Established in 1932

Nielsen Electric, the eldest contractor in the city of Alameda, has been family owned and operated since 1932. Tom Nielsen founded the company as a one-man operation during the depths of the Depression. 

In the 1950s, Tom's son, Eric A. Nielsen, and his wife, Diana Traini Nielsen, assumed ownership of the business, which has been a family tradition. Eric Jr. and Sidney, the couple's children, learned the family trade as teenagers in the 1940s and continue to work in the business today. 

Diana Nielsen-Henneman, the granddaughter, also works alongside her grandmother in the office. Nielsen Electric specializes in all forms of electrical systems, particularly those in older homes within the East Bay.
